7/21/14

Another 6 weeks have come and gone... No words.. that is all. :/

I am truly sad to say that Sister Bailey will be leaving. I have LOVED serving with her. Sure there were hard times and it was an emotional rollercoaster, but which companion isint?  We have had SO much fun, and we have worked SO hard and I am just sad for this companionship to be broken up.  I am grateful for the time we had to serve together, and the things we learned as we placed our trust in the Lord. And I know the lord is in charge, what ever he says goes..

Together, Sister Bailey and I received so much revelation this week. it was incredible and such a blessing, because as we reminded ourselves to call upon the Lord for help, we did receive that help. and we have seen so many people progress because of it.

We currently have 3 people on date to be baptized, the first three Saturdays in August will be busy! that is for sure! Linda is preparing for the 2nd.  Patricia is preparing for the 9th, and Kaitlyn is preparing for the 16th! WOOT! it is SO exciting!! I am SO happy for them all.

Something really funny happened this week, HAHAH it makes me laugh out loud just to think about it... hahaha
So sister Bailey had a dentist appointment and we had just enough time to stop by our apartment for her to run in brush her teeth and then get in the car and go.  So I decided to park the car on the street in the cauldasack ( I have NO idea how to spell that)  we live on.  well there is a storm drain near where I wanted to park, and I thought to myself "you should not park by the storm drain because the roads near the drains are always rough, and I didn't want to hurt the car or something"....( it made sense in my head.) so instead of stopping before the drain, I pulled past it so the drain was near the side of the car.. anyways, sister bailey gets out of the car and I hear the phone drop.  Thinking it was just on the road, and no big deal I look over at sister bailey and she just says "SISTER!! its down there!!"  almost confused and not really processing everything yet I said "what is?" sister bailey almost in tears "THE PHONE!!"   The phone had fallen down into the storm drain and all three pieces had come apart, meaning the phone, battery, and back of the phone.  oh it was so funny. I just started laughing, mainly because I didn't know what to do immediately.  so sister bailey and I just look down there and are thinking, what are we going to do?  we need that, It is EVERYTHING.. (not really,.. but it is very important)  ok.. here is the funniest part.. We are sitting there and sister Bailey goes, "well, what are we going to do?"  and I just WITH OUT THINKING ---obviously-- I say "I DONT KNOW! WHO ARE WE GOING TO CALL!?!??"  hahahahah! we about died.. I just laughed so much. It was just a blonde moment, and just made our day! haha :) SO! the miracle of it all, was our kind neighbor, that we have just been friendly to, he is visiting his son with his wife here from Bagdad, and they are the kindest people. We asked him to help us, and he got a ziplock and put some string through it and then we scooted the phone and battery into the bag and hoisted it up. it was genius!  and our phone works great! we were worried it had water damage, but it didn't! it was the best! :) such a funny time. OH and we made it in time for her dentist appointment. The Lord is watching out! and just provided a REALLY funny memory.  He must love us or something?! WE ARE SO LUCKY!! :) haha

Patricia is the most prepared investigator I have ever taught. She continues to amaze me!
We taught her about the word of wisdom this week, and she is pretty much already living it. we talked to her about coffee, and she goes " oh! no, Cant have it. it makes me sick."  then we moved to smoking " Never Smoked in my life." alcolhol? " 2 times a year, and now that aint happening."  It WAS Amazing!!  just everything was like boom boom boom! living it. done. so prepared!

I love Patricia because she will always answer our questions and then she expands on her answer and explains to us how she has been prepared.  This week we also taught her the gospel of Jesus Christ.  It was the coolest experience. After we taught her the process and steps of repentance she told us of the spiritual confirmations she had received.  2 weeks before sister Bailey asked Patricia if she needed help (which is how this all got started) she felt the spirit touch her heart and she heard the words " a new beginning"  and so as she was pondering this one day she was sitting at her desk just doodling, and Hanna (her daughter) was sitting next to her, and she wanted to know HOW she would receive this new beginning. she said "the lord showed me an analogy, he showed me a hospital room and they were prepping for open heart surgery. And as they she was shown the steps of the surgery, the lord used phrases and words that sister bailey had used as we were teaching her the steps of repentance. and as she was listening to us, I could just see the light bulbs go off, it was amazing!  SHE KNOWS this is true. SHE HAS A SINCERE HEART! the lord is teaching her and preparing her! it is amazing. I feel so blessed to be a part of this story, and that the lord has entrusted us with her. I love her so much! Hope that makes sense.. but it was amazing. the spirit was SO strong in that lesson.

My new companion is sister Hendersen. I don't know much about her, but I am ready to work hard! I am excited!

love you all! I know the gospel is true. I know the lord gives us the things we need when we need them, and he desires for us to pray for revelation. he will give it to us. :) "go forward be faithful, the promise is sure" "ask and ye shall receive." :)

love,
Sister O'Neil
